With around 1 in 3 women suffering from pelvic floor problems, isn’t it about time we all became Kegel savvy? And Yes, Men I’m looking at you too! Most of us don’t give our pelvic floor much thought that is in till we leak a little bit of urine every time we sneeze or cough and our sex life starts to suffer. Having a good strong pelvic floor is essential for maintaining good health. Your pelvic floor is responsible for keeping your balance and holding your pelvic organs in place as well as bladder and bowel control. The most common cause of pelvic floor problems in women is due to childbirth and ageing.

Now as a 20’s something that is extremely active and hasn’t given birth, keeping up with my pelvic floor exercises wasn’t exactly at the top of my to-do list. But as I am a massive advocate for pelvic floor exercises and regularly preach the benefits of Kegels to my friends and clients. Over the last two years, I have noticed various smart pelvic floor trainer’s come onto the market some of which even hook up to your mobile phone. Though it’s not necessary to use any device to do your pelvic floor exercises, however, with around 24% of women struggling to do their pelvic floor exercises correctly, these devices promise to guide you step-by-step and make doing your Kegel exercises easy.

After a conversation with the folks at Intimina, I thought I may as well start practising what I preach and test out their Kegel smart pelvic floor trainer. It’s one of the smaller and more affordable pelvic floor trainer’s on the market.

As expected from Intimina the same great quality and sleek designs that I have come to expect from them. This company really puts a lot of thought and investment in designing not only functional but beautiful designed products for women too.

I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t exactly keen on the idea of AA batteries being inside me but the Kegel smart locked the battery case firmly shut. After a quick look at the instruction manual, I switched on the device. It’s really simple to use with a single touch button and LED display.

I found it easier to do the exercises while lying down and a little bit of WB Yes ® lubricant to make insertion more comfortable. When you switch it on the device doesn’t vibrate for a few minutes so that you can get it into place and get yourself comfortable to start doing your exercises.
I literally had no idea what to expect when it would start my customised pelvic floor routine.

Oh, My GOD!!! It felt like my iPhone had just gone off inside of me.

I actually found that the vibrations made it harder to contract my muscles in time with the vibration pattern. I cycled between setting 4 and 5, it was interesting to read that this is due to fluctuations in hormones during my cycle. The Kegel smart was easy to incorporate into my routine and was easy to care for. As it’s waterproof you can even use it in the shower.

Conclusion:

I personally found the vibrations to be a bit too strong for my body, occasionally causing discomfort but it’s worth noting that I don’t have any pelvic floor weakness and therefore have good sensitivity levels. Women with weaker muscle tone will typically have less sensitivity to the vibrations. I can’t say I’ve noticed any difference having used it for 2 months but the multiple reviews on Amazon have stated great success from other users. It was intuitive to use and is a really well-made product.
If you have been struggling with the conventional weighted pelvic floor trainers I would highly recommend giving the Keagle smart a try.

Kegels only take 15 minutes out of your day and plus they make your orgasms better!! 😉 So why not give them a go?

Disclaimer, I received the Kegel smart free of charge for a feature in this article, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own and I have not received any financial compensation or any other incentives.
